Export to Europe without a physical presence
Our 1st valuable tip: non-EU companies do NOT need a physical presence in the Netherlands to sell products across Europe. We offer you a fast, legal and easy way to start selling your products in Europe!
Explanation on the European VAT system
European Value Added Tax (VAT) is due on imports of products into any of the 27 European Union members . Basically, all European VAT paid can be refunded by the tax authorities in the various EU member states.
The applicable European VAT rate has to be paid over the customs value of the imported goods .The European VAT rate differs per country but is in average 20%. Depending on the Incoterms or Terms of Sale, the importer or exporter pays the VAT upon import into the EU. The paid VAT will be paid back by the local tax authorities between 3 to 9 months later. The refund period varies per EU country.
Increase your working capital via Dutch VAT deferment
The Netherlands is one of the few EU member states that provide the possibility of VAT deferment (also known as postponed accounting). The big benefit for exporting companies is that no actual payment of European VAT takes place. This avoids pre-financing of European VAT. Applying the Dutch VAT deferment system can result in considerable cashflow and working capital advantages. Especially when taking into account that VAT in the different EU countries is in average appr. 20% of the customs value of the imported goods.
This Dutch VAT deferment option is also available via KWL. Just contact us for a detailed explanation and calculation of the financial advantages for your specific European transactions.
Suspend European import duties with bonded storage solutions
Depending on your products and customs classification HS-codes, European import duties/taxes might also be applicable for your European sales transaction(s). Buyer’s and seller’s responsibilities on VAT, import duties/taxes and other items are determined by the Incoterms or Terms of Sale.
By storing your goods at our customs/bonded warehouse in the Netherlands, payment of European import duties and VAT can be postponed until products are actually sold to your European clients.
If your products are ultimately shipped from our European bonded warehouse to buyers outside the European union, payment of European VAT and EU import duties can be completely avoided.
